Ana Frias in her little kitchen.

About Ana

Hi, I’m Ana! I’m a recipe creator who believes eating well should never feel restrictive. Weightlifting keeps me cooking protein-forward, and years of travel keep it interesting. But when I’m hosting friends, it’s whatever’s delicious, no rules. That’s the balance: both belong on the table.

I’ve loved cooking and baking since I was a kid, and inspiring others in the kitchen is what keeps me doing this.

A Mexican American now living in Setubal, Portugal, after years in Phoenix, Arizona, and before that, Sonora, Mexico, where I was born and raised. I’m a wife and mother of two adult sons, and most of what I cook starts at home: easy, protein-forward recipes for my husband during the week, and whatever’s delicious when we’re hosting friends on the weekend.

I also run Muy Delish, a Mexican food blog I started in 2015. This site is where I share everything that doesn’t fit there: high-protein staples, travel-inspired dishes, and the indulgent recipes I make for the people I love.

I believe good food doesn’t have to be boring. I’m here to share high protein & delicious recipes that you’ll love.

FAQ

I started learning how to use my film camera back in 2000! I took photography classes at my university and even learned to develop film in the dark room. From there I discovered that I loved photographing people. I ran a children & family portrait photography business for 20 years! Then I transition to food photography only in 2020. Once I decided to focus on Muy Delish.

For food photography I use Sony 7R with a 24-70 lens & a 90 macro lens. For my portraits I still use my good ol’ Nikon D800 with a 85mm 1.4 lens.

I used to rely entirely on natural light for my food photography, it taught me a lot about observing light and working with what I had. But to keep things consistent and shoot on my own schedule, I now use artificial light. I currently shoot with the Godox AD600 Pro II, which gives me full control over lighting no matter the time of day.

I have done photography classes in the past but at this moment I don’t. However, I’m considering running a small in-person workshop in the future so stand by!
