How to Boil Eggs Perfectly Every Time

Today we’re talking about the base of many dishes and an ingredient that is full of protein. The Egg. Here is my tutorial for perfectly boiled eggs each and every time.

Nutrition-packed, economical, and readily available, eggs really are incredible. And for perfectly cooked boiled eggs every time, you just need to follow a few basic steps. This is a reliable method that I learned from my mom.

Most recipes say to add the eggs to a pot, cover with water then bring to a boil, then turn off heat and cook for certain minutes. I tried that method several times to see what I was missing out, and nope! did not like the outcome. Now I’m back to this reliable method ☺️.

Ingredients

You don’t need much for hard boiled eggs other than water and eggs of course. Some people like to add salt but it’s not necessary. Bringing the eggs to room temperature prior to boiling is a key to prevent the them from cracking in the pot.

  2. Once the water is boiling, use a spoon to gently lower the eggs into the pot one by one. Be cautious to avoid splashing hot water.

3. Reduce the heat slightly to maintain a gentle boil. Set a timer based on your desired egg doneness:

  • Soft-boiled: 5-6 minutes (a little runny)
  • Medium-boiled: 10-11 minutes
  • Hard-boiled: 13-15 minutes.

    4. When the eggs are done, use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a bowl of ice water or run cold tap water over them to stop the cooking process.

    5. Once the eggs are cool, tap them gently on a hard surface to crack the shell, then peel it off. Season with salt and pepper if desired and use as needed.

      Ana’s Recipe Tips

      • Take the eggs out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 10-15 minutes. This helps prevent cracking when they are placed in hot water.
      • There is no need to salt the water while cooking.
      • Having a few boiled eggs in the fridge saves time for when you want a quick snack or to use when needed.
      • Serving suggestions: They’re perfect on salads, to make deviled eggs, place on top of toast or just plain!
